Introduction
Harsh noise walls, also known as wall noise or HNW, are an extreme subgenre of noise music, described as "literally coherent, unflinching, enveloping monolithic walls of noise". The movement was spearheaded by the French musician Vomir, who described his aesthetic as "no idea, no change, no development, no entertainment, no reflection." The genre quickly gained prominence in the United States. Artists such as The Haters, Daniel Menche and Richard Ramirez are best known for popularizing the noise genre in the United States. The Harsh Noise Wall features superimposed noise to form a static sound. Harsh noise wall musician Sam McKinley, also known as The Rita, describes the genre as "purifying the Japanese harsh noise scene into a more sophisticated crunch, with slow-moving, minimalistic textures." It crystallizes the sound quality of distortion.” Underground's harsh noise wall is a cult favorite among the noise music scene. A series of events dedicated to this genre, named Harsh Noise Wall Festival, was organized by Vomir at Les Instants Chavirés in Seine-Saint-Denis, Montreuil, with guests such as Werewolf Jerusalem, The NightProduct, Black Leather Jesus and Tissa. musicians participate. mawarchasari.
