BACKGROUND The characteristics of diagnosed papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) have changed over time with the increasing trend of early diagnosis, and the survival impact of conventional prognostic factors such as lymph node metastasis (LNM) and extrathyroidal extension (ETE) is controversial.
