In order to understand the aspect ratio and capillary ratio dependence of the coupled thermal-solutal capillary-buoyancy flow in an annular pool subjected to radial temperature and solute concentration gradients, a series of three-dimensional numerical simulations are conducted by applying the finite volume method.

The simulation results reveal that dropwise condensation is the main heat transfer mechanism at the condenser of these thermosyphons, and a better thermal performance is expected when the steady boiling liquid pool is nearly identical to the evaporator length for these thermosyphons operating at shallow geothermal temperature.
