We propose a solution for these problems by using a continuous time Markov renewal process model of the state space. Generalized Renewal Process
Generalized renewal processes - GRP - are a flexible formalism for modeling, forecasting, and evaluating repairable systems. [1] The generalized renewal process considers repair efficiency of imperfect repair in reliability assessment of repairable systems; therefore, its evaluation results are close to real repair circumstance than the ordinary renewal process or the non-homogeneous Poisson process.
