Young Syrian 年輕的敘利亞人 - The results were based on the analysis of the students’ letters they wrote to their Syrian peers in the spring of 2018: 150 letters saluting the young Syrians with “Dear my Syrian Friend” are exposed to a discourse analysis. [1] This process is illustrated via two recent media examples: the first an interview between former Labour senator Sam Dastyari and One Nation party leader Pauline Hanson, the second an appearance by young Syrian-born Australian residents Omar and Saad Al Kassab on the ABC discussion programme Q&A – where the subjects are self-represented as politically benign through their incorporation into the logic of neoliberalism. This phenomenological study explores the lived experience of nine young Syrian refugees ages 12 to 16 who participated in an expressive arts workshop about resilience in Aley, Lebanon. [1] Without multidimensional interventions that consider improvements to living conditions, the health of young Syrian refugees will continue to worsen. [2] Drawing on fieldwork with young Syrian refugees pursuing training in Jordan, I focus on the “coding boot camp,” an emerging educational format in the field of refugee professional training.
