What is/are Properties Enhancement?

Properties Enhancement - This article outlines three key topics related to the key challenges of graphene as a reinforcement material, the strengthening mechanism of graphene in a metal matrix, and the factors limiting the properties enhancement. ^[1] The role of silver in properties enhancement of MFNPs, their synthesis method with reaction mechanism, and application in photocatalytic degradation and antibacterial activity have been presented. ^[2] The aim of this work is to study the effect of various quenching media on the microstructural evolution and properties enhancement of AISI 4135 alloy steel. ^[3] The microstructure analysis demonstrates that with the addition of nanoparticles, high-density hydration products were formed, which is beneficial to the properties enhancement of concrete products. ^[4] The castables exhibited a microstructural optimization and properties enhancement due to the addition of pre-formed spinel. ^[5] Inspired by the highly importance of hollow structures in nature such as blood vessels and bamboos in matter transportation, properties enhancement or even survival of living creatures, the creation of hollow materials remains considerable interest. ^[6]

Mechanical Properties Enhancement

The FTIR and XRD analysis revealed that the mechanical properties enhancement in UHMWPE is credited to the cryo-structural rearrangement of highly dense carbon backbone, which in turn reduces the inter-chain distance and brings the adjacent crystalline segments closer to each other, thereby increasing the crystallinity as well. ^[1] The SEM observations showed that the bridging of the MWCNTs is one of the mechanisms of transverse mechanical properties enhancement in the epoxy/MWCNT/CF composites. ^[2] Dislocation and load transfer effect are considered as the main mechanism of mechanical properties enhancement. ^[3] The nominal mechanical properties enhancement of the CNFs is attributed to the effective control on load transfer between interwalls. ^[4] A facile method to prepare silver-plated carbon nanotubes (CNTs)/carbon fiber (CF) hybrid fibers that shows significant mechanical properties enhancement functions was proposed. ^[5] 2 wt% boron content is the most appropriate amount for microstructural refinement and mechanical properties enhancement for current near α titanium alloys. ^[6] Fractured-surface morphology studies describe the mechanical properties enhancement. ^[7] Co-milling-assisted exfoliated graphite nanoplatelets additive introduction has been found to effect a more desirable mechanical properties enhancement in the composites investigated in this study. ^[8] A method for PET mechanical properties enhancement by reactive blending with HBA/HNA Liquid Crystalline Polymers for in situ highly fibrillar composites preparation is presented. ^[9] In this work, mechanical properties enhancement of AA6061 metal matrix composite (MMC) is carried out by synergizing nanoparticles mixing strategies and hybrid ratio. ^[10] This paper studies the effects of high-pressure torsion (HPT) at ambient temperature on microstructural evolution and mechanical properties enhancement in pure copper. ^[11] Moreover, uniaxial stretching at melting, crystallization and onset of crystallization temperatures showed to have significant impact on crystallization behavior and mechanical properties enhancement. ^[12] The recently developed dual-stage 3D printing reprocessable thermosets (3DPRTs) utilize acrylate functional groups to enable the ultra-violet based 3D printing (Stage I), and employ bond exchange reaction (BERs) to tailor the network structure for mechanical properties enhancement and impart the reshapeability, reparability, and recyclability into traditionally unprocessable thermosets (Stage II). ^[13] However, the resulted rough surfaces and low tolerances of as-printed parts require additional steps for microstructure modification, physical and mechanical properties enhancement, and improvement of dimensional/form/surface to meet engineering specifications. ^[14]

Thermal Properties Enhancement

This review article represents a detailed analysis of the preparation techniques, characterization methods stability evaluation, and thermal properties enhancements of Graphene nanofluids. ^[1] Single bulk materials have lesser advantages compared to nano materials in the area of mechanical, electrical, dielectric, optical and thermal properties enhancement of polymer and hybrid of bio-composites. ^[2] The obtained results, in combination with Wide-Angle-X-ray diffractometry (WAXD), showed that copolymerization of CL with PHeF and PPeF led to semi-crystalline and partially amorphous copolyesters respectively, providing the basis for significant thermal properties enhancement with respect to the polycaprolactone (PCL) homopolymer, and therefore a much wider range of melting points (Tm) and glass transition temperatures (Tg) were obtained. ^[3] Carbon nanotubes, graphene and porous carbon have excellent properties, such as ultrahigh surface area and high thermal conductivity, which have become the preferred materials for thermal properties enhancement. ^[4] Therefore, this paper reviews the pros and cons of using microencapsulated and composite PCM in CBM by highlighting the mechanisms involved in the mechanical strength loss and thermal properties enhancement. ^[5]

Adsorption Properties Enhancement

The change of the partial density of states of Fe in the vicinity of adsorption sites induced by such rearrangement suggests that the adsorption properties enhancement of the surface is related to the increase of density of states at Fermi level. ^[1] We present hydrogen adsorption properties enhancement for the Ni-adsorbed and -substituted Mg17Al12 (1 1 0) surfaces. ^[2]

Thermophysical Properties Enhancement

The present study is a comprehensive review of existing techniques for PCMs thermophysical properties enhancement. ^[1] We also discuss the formation of dendritic structures in molten salt doped with nanoparticles, which has been often related to thermophysical properties enhancement. ^[2]
