What is/are Epitope Within?

Epitope Within - Antibody-mediated neutralization occurs via an epitope within the receptor-binding domain of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein. ^[1] Use of truncated derivatives of ratHEV capsid protein in ELISA, Western blot, and a Pepscan analysis allowed to map the epitope within a partially surface-exposed region with the amino acid sequence LYTSV. ^[2] This theoretically allows the detection of T cells to any epitope within a protein of interest and consequently does not require the patient's HLA type to be characterized. ^[3] Therefore, in this study, we identified an epitope within the SmCyp sequence that induces a protective immune response against the parasite, thus representing a promising antigen that could be used for vaccine formulation against schistosomiasis. ^[4] Background Interaction of von Willebrand factor (VWF) with platelets requires a conformational change that exposes an epitope within the VWF A1 domain, enabling platelet glycoprotein Ibα binding. ^[5] Finally, a peptide containing the highly conserved Helix A epitope within the influenza hemagglutinin stem domain induced antibodies that successfully protected mice against a lethal H1N1 challenge. ^[6] Reducing the number of CpG motifs from the genome of AAV vectors reduces expansion of naive T cells directed against an epitope within the capsid. ^[7]

Binding Epitope Within

In contrast with previous studies, we have identified a linear IgG and IgA antibody binding epitope within the RBD. ^[1] A combined chemo‐enzymatic synthesis/NMR‐based methodology is presented to identify, in unambiguous manner, the distinctive binding epitope within repeating sugar oligomers when binding to protein receptors. ^[2] Here, we tested the hypothesis that the EGFR nanobody 7D12 fused to an IgG1 Fc portion (7D12-hcAb) would overcome EGFR ectodomain–mediated resistance because it targets a very small binding epitope within domain III of EGFR. ^[3] The findings were used for epitope grafting of the RGD integrin binding epitope within prochlorosin 2. ^[4]

Linear Epitope Within

Thus, in this study, we screened the dominant linear epitope within the MCP of TGIV and then, a new peptide vaccine (P2) was developed via prokaryotic expression system. ^[1] Results: Epitope mapping of the scFv binding site revealed a linear epitope within the extracellular domain of human CD44, capable of blocking binding to native hyaluronic acid. ^[2] In the present study, an RBD-specific rabbit antibody named 9E1 was isolated from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of immunized rabbit by RBD-specific single B cell sorting and mapped to a highly conserved linear epitope within twelve amino acids 480CNGVEGFNCYFP491 on RBD. ^[3] Epitope mapping revealed that a selected mAb from the panel recognized a linear epitope within the 32-amino acid region, 61-93. ^[4]
