Introduction to Cancer Harbouring

What is/are Cancer Harbouring?

Cancer Harbouring - OBJECTIVE A third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), osimertinib, is the standard treatment for patients with non-small cell lung cancer harbouring mutant EGFR. ^[1] In 2021, both the EGFR–MET-targeted bispecific antibody amivantamab and the novel EGFR TKI mobocertinib received Accelerated Approval from the FDA for the treatment of patients with advanced-stage non-small-cell lung cancer harbouring EGFR exon 20 insertions. ^[2] OBJECTIVE To analyse clinical and molecular features in patients with surgically resected patients with lung cancer harbouring anaplastic lymphoma kinase fusion. ^[3] Retrospective studies suggest a survival benefit when platinum-based chemotherapy is administered to patients with pancreatic cancer harbouring a germline mutation in BRCA1, BRCA2 or PALB2 (mut-positive PDAC). ^[4] Furthermore, the French National Cancer Institute (INCa) systematically recommend tumoral testing looking for MMR system failure in case of CRC diagnosed under 60, endometrial cancer diagnosed under 50 or whatever the age in patients diagnosed with CRC or endometrial cancer harbouring personal or familal history of Lunch Syndrome cancers. ^[5]
