Introduction to Vulvar Mass

What is/are Vulvar Mass?

Vulvar Mass - Our case is a 22 year old nulliparous patient with a seven year history of a vulvar mass with anorgasmia over the prior year. ^[1] Almost all of those cases involved multiparous women, between 50 and 80 years of age, with a vulvar mass, although with various presentations: as a painful mass, in four cases; as a painful mass accompanied by abdominal pain, in three cases; as urinary dysfunction, in another four cases; and as pain at the base of the penis with sexual dysfunction, in a rare case involving a male patient. ^[2] A 70-year-old (gravida 2 para 2) Japanese woman complained of bleeding from a vulvar mass at a past episiotomy site. ^[3] Another 45-year-old female, presented after an excision of a vulvar mass 3,5 × 2,5 × 2,5 cm of the left labia minor after swelling for the last 2 years which resulted histologically in ACC-BG with positive margins and neural and muscular invasion. ^[4] A urethral/ vulvar mass was apparent in 65% of patients and 42% presented with hematuria or vaginal bleeding. ^[5] While most of these tumours are benign, it is important to keep these and other rare tumours in the differential diagnosis of vulvar masses. ^[6] SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION EGPA in the pediatric population has a relatively high mortality rate compared with in the adult population thus it is important that vulvar granulomas associated with EGPA should be included in the differential diagnosis of a vulvar mass allowing for the prompt diagnosis and treatment of this potentially fatal disease in children. ^[7] Methodology This is a case report of a young woman whose diagnosis of PVNHL came after symptoms of genital discomfort and the presentation of vulvar mass of progressive enlargement. ^[8] CONCLUSION Ectopic breast tissue is rare but should be taken into consideration in the differential diagnosis of a vulvar mass, especially postpartum in lactating women. ^[9]
