Introduction to Ultrasonic Drilling

: The proper selection of machining conditions and machining parameter is an important aspect, before going to machine a brittle material by rotary ultrasonic drilling process Because these conditions will determine such important characteristics as; Material removal rate (MRR) and Surface roughness (SR).

This investigation represented a fundamental research on the potential effects of the high-frequency vibration on the hole integrity involved in rotary ultrasonic drilling (RUD) of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) composites.

The present paper presented a mathematical approach based upon Buckingham pi theorem to estimate the volume of chipping while creating holes by rotary ultrasonic drilling on float glass specimen.
