Introduction to Radical Political

Review of Radical Political Economics 48 (1): 5–8.

The Review of Radical Political Economics welcomes and actively recruits reviews of significant books that are of interest to RRPE readers.

Williams’ goal is to make the case that Immanuel Wallerstein and Perry Anderson are exemplary scholars of Radical Political Economy, nudging them towards the discipline of political science.

This paper critically examines Robin Hahnel’s 2017 book Radical Political Economy: Sraffa versus Marx and especially compares the relative explanatory power of Marx’s theory and Sraffa’s theory.

Over the last decades, several historians have analyzed the manner in which, throughout the twentieth century, members of several American legislative bodies and US government officials conducted surveillance and repressive activities in order to contain the proliferation of radical political movements.

The embrace of markets and globalization by radical political parties is often taken as reflecting and facilitating the moderation of their ideologies.

It will be shown that this concealment favors the baseless claims of both radical political discourses.

Recurring themes include the contested place of emotion in radical political discourse; the role of the periodical in mediating action and performance; the changing affective frameworks of cultural politics (especially concerning gender and nation), and the shifting terrain of what constitutes appropriate emotion in public political discourse.

Five major influences shaped his radical youthful imaginary: the uprightness and respect for justice and law imbibed from his father, a High Court judge; a deep affinity and loyalty towards the egalitarian values of the Sikh faith from his mother, a descendent of the third Sikh Guru; rigorous economics from his Cambridge-oriented teachers at university; an immersive emotional belonging to Punjab; an engagement with leftist thinking in the tumultuous political turmoil of the times; and a radical political commitment to the nationalist aspirations and development ambitions of a newly independent and resurgent India.
