Introduction to Sustainable Intensification Technologies

Intensification Technologies - It is therefore imperative to have sustainable intensification technologies, and we describe one such technology. ^[1] In this sense, a variety of alternative methods have been described to obtain POS using different sources including conventional and emerging intensification technologies. ^[2] This paper reviews the empirical literature on the determinants of farmer adoption of sustainable intensification technologies in maize agri-food systems of the Global South. ^[3] This review presents a survey of the antiviral properties of carrageenan in relation to the processing conditions, particularly those assisted by intensification technologies during the extraction stage, and discusses the possibility of further chemical modifications. ^[4] While significant advances could still be made with more widespread adoption of sustainable intensification technologies that address the agronomic efficiency of nitrogen fertilizers, the dynamic use of agricultural land across seasons and associated crop-specific responses to fertilizer applications have so far been largely overlooked. ^[5] Newly introduced process intensification technologies (microreactor, membrane reactor, microwave, reactive distillation, and centrifugal contractor) to overcome these issues are also discussed. ^[6] Alternative advanced process intensification technologies like microwave and ultrasound-assisted steps replacing the conventional steps when implemented show considerable reduction in environmental indicator values. ^[7] Given the relatively low impact of (sustainable) intensification technologies alone, a rethinking of the role of agricultural research in development is needed in order to align interventions with farmer priorities and meet development goals. ^[8] The paper proposes a classification approach of 40 Inventive Principles with an extended set of 160 sub-principles for process engineering, based on a thorough analysis of 155 process intensification technologies, 200 patent documents, 6 industrial case studies applying TRIZ, and other sources. ^[9] Membrane contactors are considered as one of the most promising intensification technologies for gas-liquid absorption processes in food, chemistry, energy and pharmaceutical industries. ^[10] Therefore in the recent time, lot of improvements are done with respect to biodiesel production process and the attention is paid for developing process intensification technologies to address the above problems. ^[11] Based on analysis of 100 eco-patents, 58 process intensification technologies, and literature, the study identifies 20 universal TRIZ inventive principles and sub-principles that have a higher value for environmental innovation. ^[12] In this study, we develop pathways relying on ecological intensification technologies and suiting different farm types of smallholder agriculture. ^[13]
